Five was the one whom they left behind in the research facility during the fire and Five now works for the American government. Nine and Twelve continued to execute their terrorist plans one after another, leading the Japnaese Police around by their noses until an unexpected appearance of their former friend – Five. Inevitably, Lisa joined their team for real and she seemed to be more a liability to the two than an asset, as she appeared to be clumsy and rather unintelligent. Although they told her that she was to become an accomplice, she wasn’t treated like one and Twelve continued keeping tabs on her to make sure that she doesn’t expose their identities. The two successfully executed their bombing of the Japanese Government building, and in the process, roped Mishima Lisa into their Sphinx gang. They managed to escaped in a fire but had to leave one of their friends behind and for that, Nine still suffers from nightmares. Their names just remind me of children brought up in labs and Nine’s recurring nightmares further confirm the fact that they were children brought up in a research facility. Despite their normal-sounding names, they call each other “Nine” and “Twelve”. Fast forward a few months and they’re entering a school as transfer students. The opening scene showed the two stealing something valuable from a high security plant in Japan a few months ago.
So are the protagonists bad? Or are they inherently good? The main protagonists are terrorists who bombed Japan and are about to pull the trigger on the world. I was intrigued by the description on MAL before the show even aired, because it was interesting.
I gave it a 10 on mal for its consistency, great plot execution, beautiful music, intriguing characters and everything that made it one of the top shows of summer. We were kept well in suspense with bits and pieces of the story falling in place as the series progressed till the heartbreaking end. It was a mind-blowing experience and I loved every part of it. I know that this was one big anime of the Summer season but I didn’t get down to it until recently and I got to indulge in the entire season in one night.
